Unfortunately, these one-size-fits-all approaches to recovery are usually not a good bargain. Many times, patients end up paying more for sessions they don’t need.

A wellness plan is a pay-in-advance program that many chiropractors offer in an effort to entice customers. These plans can vary from a set monthly cost to a package of sessions for a fixed price. Often times chiropractors that offer wellness plans do not accept insurance or patients are unable to use insurance because the “plan” is not covered. These plans, therefore, can become unaffordable for some people.
Pre-paid chiropractic plans remove the personalization of care. Instead of having a treatment plan tailored to fit your specific needs, the plan is generic, failing to take into consideration whether you actually need all of the sessions.
A patient effectively enters into a contract with the chiropractor. The contract may be for 4 sessions or it may be for 40 sessions. The problem is that in some cases the care may be inappropriate in relation to the health concern.
Unfortunately, patients who enter into these agreements are now contractually obligated to the chiropractor and could be out significant amounts of money if they do not fulfill those obligations.
Chiropractic services should not be cost-prohibitive. While deals and discounts may sound good on paper, they rarely reflect what a patient truly needs. Chiropractors who do not focus on a customized approach to treatment may encourage advanced payment or persuade you to apply for a high-interest credit card in exchange for a reduced rate.
These offers are usually not in your best interest. In some cases, they may actually cost you more money in the long run. If the cost of chiropractic services is a concern, you should speak with your insurance provider to determine what is covered.
